Monterey County Youth Center Information

Monterey County Youth Center is a male only residential facility for the rehabilitation of male wards of the court. The program is 365 days long, and during the program the first 9 months of the year are spent in the custody of the Youth Center, while the remainder is the Aftercare program. This portion includes electronic monitoring at home and allows juveniles to complete the remainder at home with their families, learning how to apply the skills and knowledge they learned during the first portion. Small groups are used throughout the program to encourage interaction and to ensure each youth get the personal attention they require to complete the program with the results intended. Vocational training is also included with the education portion of the program to offer improved capabilities of employment and to have an outlet for energy and emotions. Throughout the program life skills such as responsibility and selfcare, education, and treatment of substance abuse or past trauma are all a focus.
