Humboldt County Juvenile Hall Information

The Humboldt County Juvenile system includes probation services, community service work, a new horizons program, secure treatment, and placement in juvenile hall. If youth are a danger to themselves or others, or other treatments and programs have failed, they will find themselves detained at the Juvenile Hall. While they are in the hall they will have access to medical care, their regular medications, religious services, education, and other services and programs to rehabilitate and teach new life skills. Youth are expected to participate actively in each of the programs they attend. Time for physical activity and recreation are also provided to ensure their mental and physical health is supported. The staff are focused on a safe and secure environment for youth to grow and develop, learning responsibility along with personal and social skills. In order to support this the families are asked to remain active in the lives of the youth present, and to send mail, accept phone calls, and visit when possible. Mail: 3 free letters may be sent out from the facility each week, with additional letters permitted at the cost of the juvenile, and mail is not monitored or read unless there is a reason to suspect there is dangerous information that is included or that there is a threat to the Juvenile Hall. Phones: Upon arrival up to three calls can be made, beyond that all phone calls will be made collect and appear on the phone bill of the receiver. Incoming calls are not received except from their attorney. Visitation: Visiting hours occur on Wednesdays from 5pm until 6pm and Saturdays from 12:15pm to 1:15pm. Any additional visits must be arranged directly with the facility. All visitors must leave personal items in the vehicle or at home and will need to pass through a metal detector.
