Each of the offenders who are arrested in Amador County for either misdemeanors or felonies and they will remain at the location as they wait for their trial or as they are serving a sentence provided by the court.
They will be provided with many opportunities and programs to give back to the community through community services, to work on personal improvement, and to have all their basic needs met as they do so.
Meals, health care, mental health care, and necessary treatments are all provided by the Amador County Jail, allowing inmates the best chance of success after their incarceration.
The capacity ratings for the building are 76 inmates, with 11 of those beds being assigned for female inmates.
After arrest there is a booking process and at the end of that process each inmate will be provided with the opportunity to make phone calls in which they can arrange bail, notify their attorney, or to inform friends or family where they are.
After the first calls, all inmates have access to phones from 6am to 11pm in the housing units and these calls are either paid for by credit or they are made collect to the receiver.

Visiting hours for male inmates is Saturday 8:30am-10:30am and 12:30pm-3:30pm as well as Sunday 12:30pm-5:30pm. Visiting for female inmates is Saturday 3:30pm-5:30pm and Sunday 8:30am-10:30am, with special housing inmates are Fridays 8:30am-5:15pm. Visits may be a half hour in length and two are offered each week.

Magazines
News, special interest or sports magazines may also be mailed to an inmate as long as they are shipped directly from the publisher. Any magazines that contain profanity, weapons, pornography or other content that is adult in nature will be confiscated by the jail staff and will NOT be delivered to the inmate.
Books
The Amador County Jail allows books to be mailed directly to the jail from a reputable source such as Amazon, Barnes & Noble or Books-A-Million. You can order them directly from your computer and have them shipped to the inmate at the address noted.
