Upon arrival there is a 72 hour time frame for the first appearance to occur, and this will determine if the youth will remain in the facility until their sentencing, or if they will be permitted to return home. If other options are not suitable or have already been tried, than a young offender can be sentenced to serve time in the detention facility and participate in programs and classes that will help to manage anger and other emotions, continue education, and treat any medical or mental health concerns.
