About the Natrona County Detention Center

Serving the area of Natrona County the 476-bed Natrona County Detention Center provides detention services for all inmates and offenders both as they await their trial and as they are serving their sentence.

Staff and programs are focused on rehabilitation and providing opportunity to make productive use of incarceration rather than punishing offenders further.

For this purpose, there are only 3 different times of lockdown during the day, other than overnight, including 5:30am-6am, 11am-1pm, and 4pm-6pm when meals will be served, and counts will be taken.

Along with three healthy meals each day, access to recreational spaces and activities, social interactions, and exercise, there are also programs for counseling, full medical treatments, NA and AA, and even church services.

Inmates are also encouraged to remain in contact with their support system outside of the Natrona County Detention Center including their family, friends, mental health care providers, and church leader if they are religious.

This is done through mail, phone calls, and visits.

Mail is currently processed through a third party, where it is checked for a return address, Polaroids, adult content or images, and other banned items before they approved pieces are scanned and digitally delivered to the inmates.

Phone calls and video visits have become accessible on tablets, along with messages, and this can be funded and accessed online, allowing inmates to start calls or visits with their approved contacts at any time they are not restricted or during quiet hours. Both picture messages and video messages are available, for $0.35 each through this program.

Inmate Money Accounts

How Do You Deposit Money for an Inmate in the Natrona County Detention Center?

There are FOUR options for putting money on an inmate's books:

Option 1 - Dropping Money at the Jail
Bring money to the jail in person.
Either the jail personnel will process the Inmate Account payment or you will use a Jail ATM self-serve kiosk in the lobbies that accepts cash, debit or credit cards.

Option 2 - Deposit Inmate Money Online
Natrona County Detention Center uses Jail ATM to process all online deposits to an inmate's account. The company charges you a small fee for doing so, but the fee probably isn't as much as gas and parking would cost to take it to the jail in person.

Option 3 - Mail the Inmate Deposit to the Jail
Mailing a deposit takes more time to process than the other methods but can be done if you live too far away to bring it in person and you don't have a debit/credit card for online deposits. Never send cash. Always send a Money Order from the US Post Office, a reputable bank or Western Union. Call the Natrona County Detention Center first as they may want you to do this online or at the jail kiosk instead.
Make the Money Order out to the inmate's name and put their Inmate ID# in memo section of the Money Order.
