About the Lincoln County Afton Branch Jail

In Lincoln County detention services are separated into two locations, the 85 bed Lincoln County Detention Center located in Kemmerer, and this, the 30 bed Lincoln County Afton Branch Jail. The Lincoln County Afton Branch Jail is the small holding location, accepting up to 5 offenders of either misdemeanors or felonies, for up to 24 hours. During the waiting period bail may be paid at the location, and arrangements can be made for medication to be dropped off, but the short stay limits the contact and communication with those outside of the jail.

Communications including mail, calls, and visits are available after transfer to the detention center.

Medical concerns are all addressed immediately, meals provide on schedule each day, laundry is done every week, and other care is provided to ensure the health and safety of offenders.

Mail can be delivered directly to the facility by the US Postal Service, which delivered mail on weekdays that are not holidays, and picks up the mail leaving the jail at the same time. All mail is checked for contraband.
