About the Waushara County Jail

Within Waushara County, all of the offenders who are arrested by the Sheriff’s Office or other law enforcement on either misdemeanor or felony charges, will be taken to the Waushara County Jail for their booking process, assessment, and they will remain in their assigned housing until they make bail, have their trial, or are released at the end of a sentence that is usually under one year.

The jail is located at the same address as the sheriff office, providing a continuity of care and control from arrest to release, and bail is also able to be paid at a kiosk in the lobby. After paying bail at the lobby, take the receipt around the back of the brick building to the rear door where there is both a garage door and a door into the building with an intercom system, using the intercom to alert staff that you paid bail, who it was paid for, and to then await their release. To determine bail, where they are located, and other details call the location directly at 920-787-6591. For those who do not qualify for bail, cannot make bail, or who are serving a sentence, there are other ways in which family and friends can support them including financially and through maintaining regular contact.

To support an inmate financially there is an account created for each inmate allowing them to access canteen purchases of clothing, snacks, drinks, hygiene, and phone cards which may be added to by money order in the mail, or through the kiosk that is located in the lobby of the jail.

There is also a work release portion of the jail, found in the minimum security area, that allows inmates to remain at their current positions and be taken to work and returned by either a coworker, family member, or friend, and in some cases, they may be able to maintain a self-employment position or childcare. There are both fees and transportation need for this program, which is operated from the jail. Both medium and maximum security inmates are disqualified from that program and are unable to leave the facility during their term of incarceration.

Another way in which inmates are supported by their family or their friends is through contact, which has been shown to improve mental health for the inmates as well as improve the safety of the jail for both inmates and staff. Unscented letters may be sent to the facility directly at:

Inmate Money Accounts

How Do You Deposit Money for an Inmate in the Waushara County Jail?

There are FOUR options for putting money on an inmate's books:

Option 1 - Dropping Money at the Jail
Bring money to the jail in person.
Either the jail personnel will process the Inmate Account payment or you will use a Jail ATM self-serve kiosk in the lobbies that accepts cash, debit or credit cards.

Option 2 - Deposit Inmate Money Online
Waushara County Jail uses Jail ATM to process all online deposits to an inmate's account. The company charges you a small fee for doing so, but the fee probably isn't as much as gas and parking would cost to take it to the jail in person.

Option 3 - Mail the Inmate Deposit to the Jail
Mailing a deposit takes more time to process than the other methods but can be done if you live too far away to bring it in person and you don't have a debit/credit card for online deposits. Never send cash. Always send a Money Order from the US Post Office, a reputable bank or Western Union. Call the Waushara County Jail first as they may want you to do this online or at the jail kiosk instead.
Make the Money Order out to the inmate's name and put their Inmate ID# in memo section of the Money Order.
