About the Aberdeen City Jail
The Aberdeen City Jail is located within the city of the same name and is operated by the Aberdeen City Police Department. It houses all offenders who are arrested by the local police and any other law enforcement within the area. As a small holding facility any long term sentences or those who require a higher security rating may be transferred to other facilities that are nearby. Both pretrial and sentenced inmates will be housed here, and they will be provided will all basic needs including meals, medical treatment, mental health treatment, and addictions counselling. Outgoing phone calls are permitted, as well as sending and receiving letters, and visits are encouraged. Maintaining contact with friends and family who are not incarcerated has been shown to improve the environment in the facility and assists in the re-entry into the community after sentence has been served in full. Mail: All mail that is not from or to a legal professional will be checked for contraband before entering or leaving the facility, money may not be sent in the mail, and all mail that is not acceptable will be returned to the sender. Bond: Bail may be paid at the police department after hours, however only bail bond or cash is accepted. Phone: Inmates will have access to phones for outgoing phone calls each day, to be made collect to the receiver. Visitation: Visiting days are Sundays from 9am to 11am and each visit is 20 minutes in length.
