Chelan County Juvenile Center Information

The Chelan County Juvenile Center has 50 beds to accept both male and female young offenders from the county. It provides two categories; pending and court ordered. Those who are considered to be pending are newly arrested and being held for the investigation and court dates, while the court-ordered are those who were determined to have been guilty of the charges they faced and sentenced to the facility. An assessment is conduction to determine medical needs, mental health needs, emotional support needed, educational status, and to determine any substance use or abuse. Each juvenile will have a program created that includes specific classes, treatments, therapy or counseling, and group activities that will move them towards their goals and address their specific needs. Each school day there are classes onsite to ensure that they are able to maintain their grades and return seamlessly to their previous school, and chores, meals, recreation, and structured activities are provided each day to form a structured day and provide stability. Each juvenile will be assigned to a probation counselor who will remain in contact with parents, answer questions, and help the residents to complete their programs and meet their goals. Mail: All mail must be through the postal service to be accepted, and each incoming letter will be opened with the youth by a staff member to check for contraband, while they will not be read. Phones: Phones are available during free hours as well as during visiting hours, and juveniles may call parents or guardians only, with no incoming calls available. Visitation: 15 minute visits are provided for those who have access to visiting privileges based upon their level of behavior, and only parents or guardians will be admitted. Visiting hours follow. Saturdays 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sundays 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. Holidays 9 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. and 1:30 pm to 4 p.m. Tuesdays 6:15 p.m. to 8:15 p.m.
