Prince William County Juvenile Detention Home Information

The Juvenile Services Program in Prince William County offers three main supervision programs and locations in order to support the development, rehabilitation, and needs of youth in their community. The three supervision programs include the pretrial supervision program, the Patrick, d Molinari Juvenile Shelter, and the Juvenile Detention Center. Within the pretrial supervision program youth are between 10 and 17 years of age are able to remain in their home and be supervised regularly either in person or via electronic monitoring. This program ensures they will arrive at their court date while protecting the safety of the community without detention. With 15 beds in a non-secure facility for youth 10-17, the Patrick D Molinari Juvenile Shelter provides temporary or emergency placement as well as an alternative to detention focused on anger management, social skills, risky behavior, and coping skills. As the third and last choice, the Juvenile Detention Center offers full detention for youth 10-17 who are charged and waiting for their court adjudication or a transfer to another location. It provides a full education, life skills, pro-social development, behavior management, counseling, and both medical and mental health services. Mail: Mail is permitted, and youth are able to both send and receive mail regularly. All mail must have the name and full address of the sender, correct postage, and must not have adult content. Phones: Common areas have phones that allow youth in an of the programs to contact their legal representatives, parents, or guardians. Visitation: For those who are being detained visiting privileges are provided once a week, but may be paused due to behavior.
