As of May 6, 2022 the Hampton Correctional Facility, almost 85 years old, has been shut down for repairs with no set date as to when it will reopen.
Therefore, until it opens back up, all inmates that are not being held in the Hampton Community Corrections Center are being housed in any one of the following facilities:

In Hampton City, Virginia, the corrections department is responsible for the daily and emergency operations of the Hampton Community Corrections Center. Each day they must supervise all meal services, recreational activities, educational and training programs, and all other activities. Each inmate is assigned to a housing unit that is the best fit for their level of security needs, to separate them from others who are incarcerated on the same case and based upon their prior behaviour during other incarcerated periods as well as their past offenses. Once they have been assigned to a housing unit they can access phones, mail, visitation, and other programs and services.
To meet the health needs of all inmates there are health services available around the clock. These include well checks and physicals, handing out medication, treatment of injuries, and an ongoing care clinic for those who have chronic health concerns that require monitoring. Dental care is also provided, both minor emergencies as well as preventative and routine care. An extensive list of programs are available for inmates to access and attend, including book clubs, overcoming struggles, veterans programming, parenting, work force, work release, money matters, job development, skills building, GED, life skills, and counseling for addictions or abuse. Each of these are available to all inmates who need them and are offered throughout the year.
In addition, inmates will have access to a weekly commissary to meet their needs for hygiene items, additional food outside of meals, and other items. This can be funded through the AccessCorrections.com website and will allow for purchases any time there are funds within the account. This can also be funded through use of the kiosk that is located within the jail. To maintain communication with friends and family, and to keep those relationships throughout incarceration, phone service are available each day, and inmates can also have access to tablets that allow them to make phone or video calls to those who are on their approved lists during their own free time, without requiring previous scheduling. Tablets also permit messages to be sent and received, with this program being accessed through gettingout.com.
Although there is no official Jail Inmate Roster, you can look up an inmate to see if they are in custody and where they are in custody on Vinelink. They do not share mugshots or much information, other than to confirm custody.
Mail can be received every day and is processed and passed to the inmates quickly. Friends and family of inmates in the Hampton Community Corrections Center can arrange to visit inmates by video, both at the jail and remotely from home. Friends and family can also communicate using an online text/email system, send them money and buy them commissary online, and set up a phone account that allows the inmates to call them during the day and evening seven days a week.

Any magazines that contain profanity, weapons, pornography or other content that is adult in nature will be confiscated by the jail staff and will NOT be delivered to the inmate.
Books
The Hampton Community Corrections Center allows books to be mailed directly to the jail from a reputable source such as Amazon, Barnes & Noble or Books-A-Million. You can order them directly from your computer and have them shipped to the inmate at the address noted.
Books must NOT contain images or content that are considered excessively violent, pornographic or obscene. Any book that does not meet the Hampton Community Corrections Center standards will be disposed of.
