About the Halifax Adult Detention Center
The Halifax Adult Detention center is operated by the Blue Ridge Jail Authority and follows all rules and regulations that are set out by them. This provides a consistent experience for both staff and inmates who are located in any of the facilities operated by this organization. Along with basic services such as laundry, food services, clothing and bedding, and laundry, there are many programs that are in place to help inmates to improve their skills, further their education, create better relationships, and reintegrate into their community after their sentence has been served. All adult inmates can be housed at this location, both before and after their trial and until the end of their sentence has been reached. The facility has many programs that assist inmates in reintegrating, helping them to find a job, a home, and setting up follow up or parole appointments. While they remain incarcerated at this space there is an encouragement to remain in contact with friends and family who are not incarcerated, with limitations on not having phone calls or others who are incarcerated, who have been incarcerated recently, or who are involved in the same criminal case. Mail can be sent to and from inmates regularly, with no limitation on how many letters that an inmate can receive, and it is processed at a third party address where all mail is checked for contraband before being scanned and electronically delivered to a kiosk or tablet that inmates can access from their housing unit. The mailing address is the jail name, the inmate name and ID number at PO Box 247, Phoenix, MD 21131. For phone calls there are only outgoing phone calls permitted, and these are funded either through collect calls added to the bill of the receiver or through funding an account at through connectnetwork.com. For visitation there are still in person visits that must be scheduled in advance and will occur during approved visiting hours. These are based upon housing unit but can occur each day of the week, with Monday being C and I, Tuesday B, Wednesday H, Thursday Intake, Medical, D, E, F, G, and Sunday unit A. Hours will be between 9am and 10am, 10am and 11am, 2pm and 2:30pm, or 3pm and 3:30pm.

Inmate Money Accounts

How Do You Deposit Money for an Inmate in the Halifax Adult Detention Center?

There are FOUR options for putting money on an inmate's books:

Option 1 - Dropping Money at the Jail
Bring money to the jail in person.
Either the jail personnel will process the Inmate Account payment or you will use a Jail ATM self-serve kiosk in the lobbies that accepts cash, debit or credit cards.

Option 2 - Deposit Inmate Money Online
Halifax Adult Detention Center uses Jail ATM to process all online deposits to an inmate's account. The company charges you a small fee for doing so, but the fee probably isn't as much as gas and parking would cost to take it to the jail in person.

Option 3 - Mail the Inmate Deposit to the Jail
Mailing a deposit takes more time to process than the other methods but can be done if you live too far away to bring it in person and you don't have a debit/credit card for online deposits. Never send cash. Always send a Money Order from the US Post Office, a reputable bank or Western Union. Call the Halifax Adult Detention Center first as they may want you to do this online or at the jail kiosk instead.
Make the Money Order out to the inmate's name and put their Inmate ID# in memo section of the Money Order.
1010 Blue Ridge Lane
Halifax, VA 24558

Option 4 - Make an Inmate Deposit with Jail ATM over the Phone by calling 877-810-0914
To do this you will need the inmate's offender # (inmate ID #) and full legal name.
