About the Danville City Jail & Annex
This maximum security facility functions in addition to the Adult Detention Center. It is located on the first floor of the courthouse, which houses the jail as well. There is a capacity of approximately 213 inmates at any time, and the annex is located at the Adult Detention Center which functions as a work facility. Programs are available at the city jai that will offer support and skills to any inmate who accesses them. This includes NA and AA, substance abuse programs, GED classes, religious services, and mental health counselling. There is also an opportunity to join a work program that will assist in the kitchen, laundry, or janitorial services. Working in this program not only provides activities to do during the day but can also improve employable skills for their release. Outside work is also available for the upkeep of playgrounds and ball fields around the city. Inmates are also encouraged to maintain their outside relationships and create support systems outside of the jail that will help with reintegration at the end of their sentence. On Tuesdays and Fridays, the friend and family may drop off approved items between the hours of 7am and 4:30pm, which can provide court clothing for inmates who have a court date that week, and they will in turn be exchanged for the day clothes that are present in the property of the inmate. Inmates will have access to a phone and can make outgoing phone calls, allowing them to communicate any items or funds they may need, as well as to arrange in person visits. For an in person visit they must first be approved by the facility, and those who have been recently released will not be permitted to attend visits. The visits day and time are arranged by the first letter of the last name of the inmate. Female inmates will have weekend visits on either Saturday or Sunday, with the exact time being determined by their last name but occurring between 1:30pm and 3:30pm. Male inmates are arranged in the same manner but have visits that begin at 9am and end at 3:30pm on a week day.
