Residents who are in the Chesterfield Juvenile Detention Home will be expected to follow the rules and schedules and to be respectful to each other and the staff, and in turn are treated with respect and will receive the care that is required. Behavior and decisions will determine the rewards, privileges, and freedoms, while negative behaviors may result int he loss of privileges. Parents are notified during the intake process and will be able to speak with their child, who will then have personal items labelled and stored while they are provided with time for a shower, hygiene items, and clothing. They will then be assigned to one of ten individual rooms that are situated around the common area and the two individual showers. Common areas are used for meals, activities, and socializing. There will be three meals and a snack provided each day and they are created to be healthy choices that will support the health and nutrition for each of the youth. Medical care is provided along with mental health care, and all of the residents will undergo a short medical when they arrive to determine if any immediate care is required, if there are any injuries, and if there is a prescription or ongoing medical concern present so that the needed supplies or medications can be retrieved from the parents quickly. Mail: Residents are able to send and receive mail each day, with outgoing mail being sealed before handed to the staff and remaining so until they are received, and incoming mail being opened, and contraband removed but it will also not be read by staff. Phones: Only parents and guardians may receive calls from youth and there are no incoming calls accepted. Visitation: Visits are limited to parents, guardians, and stepparents during the following time slots. Wednesdays, 6:30-7:30 p.m. Sundays, 3:30-4:30 p.m.

Magazines

Any magazines that contain profanity, weapons, pornography or other content that is adult in nature will be confiscated by the jail staff and will NOT be delivered to the inmate.

Books
The Chesterfield Juvenile Detention Home allows books to be mailed directly to the jail from a reputable source such as AmazonBarnes & Noble or Books-A-Million. You can order them directly from your computer and have them shipped to the inmate at the address noted.
