About the Charlotte County Jail
One of the responsibilities of the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office is to manage and maintain the Charlotte County Jail. This facility is located within the city of Charlotte, and is a direct supervision facility. All arrested adults are taken directly to this facility for booking, regardless of which law enforcement agency is responsible for the arrest. They will be housed here until they are able to make bail, they are found not guilty or released after dropped charges, or after they have served their full sentence. In order to support an inmate during their incarceration family and friends may supply funds for their commissary purchases, accept phone calls from inmates, and visit inmates on Thursdays or Sundays. Visits are scheduled for both male and female inmates on the same days, and the hours on each of these are from 8am until 4pm. Attorneys, parole officers, and probation officers are permitted to visit any weekday from 8am until 4pm, and will need to contact the facility for an exception if they require contact outside of these hours. Each visitor will be subjected to a search and the removal of any contraband, and the results of this may cause the visit to be cancelled. The approximate population of the jail is 65, and it is directly adjacent to the sheriff office to allow for the easy monitoring of all inmates.
