About the Wasatch County Jail

The Wasatch County Sheriff’s Office is located directly next to the jail and they are operated together, by the sheriff’s office and his staff. The goal of the facility is to rehabilitate inmates so they may have successful reintegration into society after their release, and many of the detainees will remain in this facility from their first booking until they have finished their sentence or have made bail. Several privileges are provided to inmates who follow the rules and help to maintain a safe jail, and these include using the phone to contact their friends and family who are not incarcerated and who have not recently been incarcerated, commissary usage to order personal hygiene needs and other items, and visits with loved ones. This is balanced by the efforts to offer volunteer opportunities and road crew chances for the inmates to find a way to give back to society and to find useful tasks to fill their time while they remain incarcerated. Work crews will be supervised by a deputy when they leave the facility and may do lawn and snow maintenance for buildings and property owned by the county and may gain skills that make them more employable after their release.
