About the Wasatch County Jail
The Wasatch County Sheriff’s Office is located directly next to the jail and they are operated together, by the sheriff’s office and his staff. The goal of the facility is to rehabilitate inmates so they may have successful reintegration into society after their release, and many of the detainees will remain in this facility from their first booking until they have finished their sentence or have made bail. Several privileges are provided to inmates who follow the rules and help to maintain a safe jail, and these include using the phone to contact their friends and family who are not incarcerated and who have not recently been incarcerated, commissary usage to order personal hygiene needs and other items, and visits with loved ones. This is balanced by the efforts to offer volunteer opportunities and road crew chances for the inmates to find a way to give back to society and to find useful tasks to fill their time while they remain incarcerated. Work crews will be supervised by a deputy when they leave the facility and may do lawn and snow maintenance for buildings and property owned by the county and may gain skills that make them more employable after their release. To help support an inmate their friends and family can add money to their commissary account through correctpay.com, or by depositing cash directly at the sheriff office during business hours. Those how are far away can use mail to communicate and update the inmate on their loved ones and topics they care about through the US Postal Service at the inmate’s name, 1365 South Highway 40, Heber City, Utah. To send books or magazines it is necessary to have them sent directly from the publisher. Phone privileges are supported by Evercom and will be made through a collect call billed to the account of the receiver or by purchasing phone cards from the commissary. In addition, an account can be created at Evercom online or through their customer service line. To visit an inmate, it is necessary to ensure that they will want to accept the visit, and to be approved as some people are not permitted to visit the jail including those who have recently been released from this or another facility. There are two possible visiting days for men and two days for women, and it is encouraged that each inmate have a visit from someone on each visiting day, to support their successful rehabilitation and to maintain a healthy support system for them. Visits to male inmates will occur on Tuesdays from 5:30pm until 7pm and on Saturdays from 12pm until 2:30pm. Each visit will be 30 minutes long.
