Central Utah Youth Center Information

For youth who are aged 10-17 years old the Central Utah Youth Center provides juvenile justice services. Both English and Spanish are offered, ensuring that students can receive services in the language that is comfortable for them. Comprehensive services are provided to both those in the detention facility, runaway youth, and those who are determined to be at risk and need a safe space for a temporary period of time. Those who are in detention may be waiting for their trial or they may have been committed to the facility, as youth in Utah are not convicted as those facing adult charges would be, to serve a sentence in detention or complete a program within. Several programs are offered as well as schooling through the local school board, counseling for individuals and families, and support for learning new life skills and social skills. Treatment is trauma informed and the group of programs or services will be designed to fit the needs of the specific individual, to provide them with the best chance of success and to reduce recidivism.
