About the Cache County Jail

The Cache County Jail, built in 2004, has a rated capacity of 348 beds, with the ability to grow to as large as 900 beds as the need arises. The current jail, built at a cost of $14 million, replaced the old jail, which was built in 1964, and was outdated. It was only able to hold 77 inmates, far less than what was needed. The county spent hundreds of thousands of dollars every year, as much as $675,000 in 2002, sending inmates to neighboring jails for many years. Some cells even had inmates triple-bunked. In 1993 they remodeled it, but that was just a bandaid, as they were still overcrowded. The same facility would cost almost 8x to build today what it cost in 2004.

The Cache County Jail was built in a radial pattern, where the first two floors contain seven blocks, each consisting of 24 prisoners who share a day room and two showers. The seven blocks will share a chapel and three classrooms, where everything from Alcoholics Anonymous to literacy and job hunting can be taught. More classroms can be added as they are needed. The cells came fully built, including plumbing and electricity that is ready to be connected. Each “pod” contains two cells and weighs more than 60,000 pounds. They are designed to be impossible to break out of. The first two floors are general population, with the third floor for work release inmates.

The large concrete facility is multi-story and houses both male and female inmates, including those who are being held on federal charges. Not only do they provide housing for inmates who are awaiting trial or who have been sentenced and are serving their sentence, but also community outreach, and explorer programs to support community service and to involve others in the community.

Next to the Cache County Jail is a 3-story administration building with the first floor used for intake (booking) and release.

The actual location of the jail is 1225 West Valley View in Logan, UT 84321. You can reach the jail 24 hours a day by calling 435-755-1000, you can look up all the current inmates, including their criminal charges, who arrested them, the date and time of their arrest and some personal characteristics by looking through the Cache County Jail Inmate Jail Roster. Utah law precludes the Sheriff from posting their mugshots.

Cache County Jail is operated by the local sheriff’s office and offers a full service facility that is supported by this full service and detailed website. For anyone who has a loved one incarcerated in the area, comfort can be found in this site and all the details for how to support inmates while they are remaining there, as well as what to expect for visits and other procedures.

Commissary offers hygiene items, clothing basics, writing materials and stamps, and food choices. To fund these accounts there is an ATM in the lobby of the jail that is accessible around the clock and is not closed any days of the year, as well as at the desk in the booking lobby during business hours, and online. Two visits of 20 minutes are permitted for each inmate for free each week, as well as unlimited remote video visits and a voicemail system to leave messages.

Mail can be received every day and is processed and passed to the inmates quickly. Friends and family of inmates in the Cache County Jail can arrange to visit inmates by video, both at the jail and remotely from home. Friends and family can also communicate using an online text/email system, send them money and buy them commissary online, and set up a phone account that allows the inmates to call them during the day and evening seven days a week.

All the information on these inmate services can be found in the sections below.  If you still have questions, you can phone the jail 24 hours a day by calling 435-755-1000.

Inmate Money Accounts

How Do You Deposit Money for an Inmate in the Cache County Jail?

There are FOUR options for putting money on an inmate's books:

Option 1 - Dropping Money at the Jail
Bring money to the jail in person.
Either the jail personnel will process the Inmate Account payment or you will use a Jail ATM self-serve kiosk in the lobbies that accepts cash, debit or credit cards.

Option 2 - Deposit Inmate Money Online
Cache County Jail uses Jail ATM to process all online deposits to an inmate's account. The company charges you a small fee for doing so, but the fee probably isn't as much as gas and parking would cost to take it to the jail in person.

Option 3 - Mail the Inmate Deposit to the Jail
Mailing a deposit takes more time to process than the other methods but can be done if you live too far away to bring it in person and you don't have a debit/credit card for online deposits. Never send cash. Always send a Money Order from the US Post Office, a reputable bank or Western Union. Call the Cache County Jail first as they may want you to do this online or at the jail kiosk instead.
Make the Money Order out to the inmate's name and put their Inmate ID# in memo section of the Money Order.

1225 W. 200 N., Suite 100
Logan, UT 84321

Option 4 - Make an Inmate Deposit with Jail ATM over the Phone by calling 877-810-0914
To do this you will need the inmate's offender # (inmate ID #) and full legal name.
