Williamson County Juvenile Detention Center Information

With a new addition being added the Williamson County Juvenile Detenti8on Center is combined with the Juvenile Services, allowing families and juveniles to receive all necessary services at one center. Moving from 36 beds to adding an additional 48 new beds will more than double the capacity and provide for the needs of the growing community. In addition, the existing space will be reorganized, new learning spaces will be added, and a shift to treating the entire individual over focusing on the offense will be adopted. This approach has been shown to reduce recidivism and the expansion will provide space for youth who are in the facility to be separated into housing units based upon age, gender, charges, and behavior in detention. The new design is trauma informed and created to be safe, secure, and comfortable for the youth, preventing further trauma which may occur in a prison-like environment. All of the basic needs for each of the juveniles will be provided including three healthy meals and a snack based upon the school nutrition program, laundry for the supplied bedding and clothing, medical attention and care, mental health support, addiction and other counseling, and educational needs.
