Functioning as a multi-use center for services for youth and families, the Van Zandt County Multi-Use Youth Center is responsible for residential services, specialized residential services, family programing, probation, substance abuse treatments, and many other programs. With a maximum capacity of 16 youth, this secure facility is a safe environment for the care and control of juvenile offenders or those requiring residential services. Each student is considered to be growing and learning all the time, and maladaptive behaviors are addressed through structure, self-discipline, positive role models, and discouraging justification of delinquent behavior. There is a section that is pre-adjudication, offering care and shelter to those youth waiting for their court date, and a post-adjudication for male youth that runs for up to one year and offers specific supports. The location also provides substance abuse treatment, sex offender treatment, and mental health support. In residence services include education from the local school district, athletics, community service, vocational training, behavior modification, life skills, GED, drug education, family impact programs, counseling, parenting programs, anger management, and more. Magazines
News, special interest or sports magazines may also be mailed to an inmate as long as they are shipped directly from the publisher. Any magazines that contain profanity, weapons, pornography or other content that is adult in nature will be confiscated by the jail staff and will NOT be delivered to the inmate.

Books
The Van Zandt County Multi-Youth Center allows books to be mailed directly to the jail from a reputable source such as AmazonBarnes & Noble or Books-A-Million. You can order them directly from your computer and have them shipped to the inmate at the address noted.
Books must NOT contain images or content that are considered excessively violent, pornographic or obscene. Any book that does not meet the Van Zandt County Multi-Youth Center standards will be disposed of.
