Nueces County Juvenile Justice Center Information

The Nueces County Juvenile Justice Center is a central location that includes several units that work together providing services to the youth, families, and victims throughout the county. Staff work together with individuals to find resolutions that will be best for all involved, including juvenile offenders, victims, and at risk or troubled teens to prevent them from requiring detention in the future. Intake staff process new juveniles or cases, while diversion unit staff work to divert juveniles from behaviors that will result in detention and provide alternatives to detention. Court services officers are present to oversee cases that are currently in court, and to guide involved individuals through the process. Field service staff are those responsible for supervising the juveniles who are on pre-court monitoring, who have been assigned to deferred prosecution, and those who are on probation. Both male and female juveniles qualify for these services and will receive assistance through the facility. As a services center there are no detention spaces directly within this division, however the nearby detention center houses those juveniles who have progressed through the available programs but have been assigned to detention.
