Barbara Culver Juvenile Detention Center Information

This nonprofit public detention center offers housing to the juvenile offenders of the county. It has the capacity for 28 youth and accepts both male and female juveniles, housing them in different pods. Each of the housing pod assignments are determined by gender, age, seriousness of the charges, and a history of detention and their behavior during those experiences. Housing assignments, detention officers, and security cameras along with other traditional security measures function together to create a safe and secure environment for each of the youth. Midland Independent School District provides certified teachers to attend the facility and provide academic instruction to the youth, allowing them to earn school credits during their detention. Intake assessments will provide a guide for what grade and level they are at for school to provide the correct guidance, as well as address any medical needs that arise, and a mental health assessment ensures that all the needed mental health support is provided. All of the juveniles are between 10 and 17 years of age, with some remaining beyond that age if they are assigned to the location while they are 17. Mail: 3800 N Lamesa Road Midland, TX 79701 Mail is only accepted from approved contracts, with no mail being sent or received from other detention centers and a full return address being mandatory.
