The Gillespie County Jail is located in the new full service Law Enforcement Center, a concrete building on two acres, with the jail and related-support facilities on the first floor and a combined City/County communications center, courtroom, adult probation offices and emergency operations center/training room on the second floor.
The building is 47,785 square feet and was built at a cost of $11.9 million. The jail itself has 96 beds but the infrastructure will allow it to expand to 150 beds at a later date with little cost.
Inmates at this jail are offenders who have been arrested in Gillespie County that were recently charged with a felony or misdemeanor, are awaiting trial, or have been found guilty for their crime(s) and have been sentenced to one year or less.
Inmate services include an online money deposit, video visitation, digital email messaging and outgoing phone calls.
The Gillespie County Jail now offers remote visitation and inmate messaging services. Prior to visiting or messaging, visitors must create an account on NCIC.com by following the provided instructions. The account setup is free, but there are optional payment options available.
