The 80 bed Fort Bend Juvenile Detention Center provides a safe environment for the detained youth of the county as they wait for a court hearing. Beds are situated in both individual rooms that have space for one detainee and in a dormitory setting. Three housing units are of individual cells with single occupancy, one being for female juveniles and the other two for males 10-5 and 15-17. Under the care of the facility each of the youth will be provided with three meals each day that are nutritious, they will attend school throughout the weekdays in the classroom onsite with teachers from the public school system. Staff include detention officers, kitchen personnel, nursing staff, administrative staff, CR personnel, and an LDC. Counseling is provided based upon a psychological evaluation at admission which is used to create a treatment plan that may include individual counseling and family counseling. Many programs are operated with and within counselling sessions including coping strategies, healthy family functioning, life skills, awareness programs, and substance use and dependency issues or abuse.
