Cooke County Juvenile Detention Ctr Information

Cooke County Juvenile Detention Center is a 24 hour facility that accepts new admittances around the clock and offers a safe and secure center for juveniles who are arrested for violating the law, waiting for a juvenile court date, waiting to be transferred, or waiting to be placed in a residential facility. Juveniles are monitored throughout the day and night, with the use of cameras and by direct interaction with the staff. Upon arrival there is an intake process and an assessment that screens for the correct identification, medical needs and immediate treatments as well as ongoing needs, and a mental health assessment to determine what services are required and which programs will provide the youth with the tools they need most. A uniform is provided, and they are assigned to their own private room for the duration of their stay. There is a behavioral program in place that rewards juveniles as they work up through the levels by following rules, making progress, and positive social interactions, to allow them to earn privileges or lose them. Strict schedules are maintained that include school hours in the classrooms onsite, programs that run after school, recreational time, and activities either inside or in the outdoor recreational space. Mail: 86 DYESS, DENISON, TX, 75020 Phone: Phones are provided for youth to remain in contact with their parents, and that contact is considered to be a key to success within the program. Parents will be provided with information regarding phone calls and visits after the intake process.
