While incarcerated at the Knox County Work Release Center inmates will be provided with all basic needs including healthy meals, recreation, mental health support, exercise opportunities, laundry, and more.
Fewer programs may be engaged with at this location as each of the inmates will be in the work release program.
Work release provides an opportunity for those who are close to release or who are charged with minor charges and not requiring full time incarceration to maintain a job during their sentence. For this purpose, they are able to leave the building and attend their regular job, or work for the county, and they are able to have additional personal items in their housing space in order to complete their job.

Inmates are permitted two visits each week, with onsite visits being Monday – Friday 4:30pm-6pm, and weekends 8am-1:30pm and 3pm-6pm. Offsite visits follow the same schedule with an additional three hours on weekends, until 9pm, with visits being scheduled online.
After being arrested, the offender is brought to the Knox County Work Release Center for booking, which is the detailed process of identifying, classifying, deciding on charges, and whether the person will either be released on their own recognizance, allowed to be released on bail, or moved into the jail until their court date.
The first thing every newly arrested person must do is close their mouth. Everything an offender says may be used against them, so the best thing to do is remain silent when questioned about the arrest and what led to it.

The Knox County Work Release Center allows inmates to receive pre-metered postcards like the type purchased from the post office. Newspapers
Local or national newspapers may also be mailed to the inmate as long as they are mailed directly from the newspaper publisher.
Magazines
News, special interest or sports magazines may also be mailed to an inmate as long as they are shipped directly from the publisher. Any magazines that contain profanity, weapons, pornography or other content that is adult in nature will be confiscated by the jail staff and will NOT be delivered to the inmate.
Books
The Knox County Work Release Center allows books to be mailed directly to the jail from Penguin Random House, Harper Collins, Simon & Schuster, Scholastic, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, Workman, John Wiley & Sons, Dover, Candlewick, WW Norton, Chronicle, Tindale House and SureShot Books. You can order them directly from your computer and have them shipped to the inmate at the address above.
Books must NOT contain images or content that are considered excessively violent, pornographic or obscene. Any book that does not meet the Knox County Work Release Center standards will be disposed of.
