About the Lawrence County Jail
Lawrence County South Dakota has a local jail that is operated by the Sheriff’s Office. While anyone is incarcerated they are expected to follow the rules and regulations, and in turn can expect to be treated fairly and humanely. All of the basic needs of each person are provided for, and some personal items are allowed to be delivered by friends or family to increase the comfort of the inmate. This includes undergarments, including bras that do not have underwires, and tshirts, along with all prescribed medication that is in the original packaging including the original prescription and label on the bottle. Books can also be delivered but only from the publisher and they must be soft cover only, and these books become part of the jail library and will not be returned or released with the inmate. To add money to the account of any inmate, there is a kiosk located at the sheriff’s office, and you can add money on the Inmate Canteen Website. This facility houses all of the male and female offenders in the area who are arrested by any law enforcement agency and will hold them until they make bail, are released for serving their sentence or for being found innocent, or until they have been transferred to an alternative facility.
