About the Campbell County Jail
The Campbell County Sheriff Office is located in Mound City, SD, which has a population under 100 people, requiring only 2 staff members including the sheriff. The area of Campbell County is under 800 miles, and it consists of approximately 1400 citizens. This small population does not require a large facility, so this jail functions as a temporary facility for those who have just been arrested and will be booked at the location before they are transferred. Some misdemeanours will require only one or two days in the facility, while others will require transferring to a larger facility that is nearby and can offer the full range of services that are required. Due to the short period of time that inmates are held in the facility there is no access to mail as correspondence, and phone calls are limited to lawyers or their first call after booking, with the ability to make phone calls to friends or family for those who remain incarcerated for a short time. Due to the size of the location all jail services are contracted to the Walworth County Jail, which offers all needed care and services for inmates. Once located in the Walworth County Jail inmates will have access to phones during their waking hours in housing or around the clock in the intake cells. For regular phones calls an account can be created at connectnetwork.com, and they can be used for up to 15 minutes at one time. The same website is used to add funds to the inmate account for commissary purchases, or family or friends can send care packages through shop.icaregifts.com/shop. Video visits are also provided through connectnetwork.com/gtl-become-viapath-technologies and can occur during the regular daytime hours of the facility. They can be scheduled in advance or inmates can initiate a request when they have time with access to computers or tablets. This is the only system that allows inmates to avoid waiting for their scheduled visits by placing video calls to their friends or family directly. The lobby kiosk is available for use from 7am to 3pm for up to 30 minute video visits.
