About the Williamsburg County Detention Center
In Kingstree, SC, the Williamsburg County Jail and Detention Center is a key part of the law enforcement system. It houses those who are arrested in the city and the surrounding area directly after their arrest but also after they have been sentenced. The facility has a full range of services available for the inmates while they remain incarcerated at the location to ensure their health, safety, security, and help them to remain a part of their community. Bond court is offered twice each day, including both weekends and holidays at the detention center, at both 9 am and 3pm. This allows each person who has been arrested to discover their bond as soon as possible and this can lead to their friends and family being able to gather their bond sooner and secure their release. While incarcerated, inmates will receive basic medical care, emergency medical care, mental health care, assistance in overcoming addiction, three meals each day, and access to mail, phone calls, and visits with their loved ones. Phone calls are permitted during the day only, and inmates are permitted to make outgoing calls but not to receive incoming calls. They are also able to schedule visits with anyone who is on the approved visitor list on either Saturday or Sunday. Inmates whose last name begins with the letter A through M will have their visits Saturdays between 10am and 3pm, while those who have a last name that starts with N through Z will have their visits on Sundays from 10am to 3pm. The facility also works closely with the Probation, parole, and Pardon services in order to assist inmates leading up to their release as well as after. This will set up the times and places they are required to check in, any limitations on their movements or activities, and support them with finding housing and jobs when possible.
