About the Lexington County Detention Center

The Lexington County Sheriff Office is responsible for the Detention Center and ensures that the needs of all inmates are met and that all laws and regulations regarding the safe incarceration of individuals is carried out. While incarcerated at this facility there are several services that are provided from the basics of three meals each day: 

  • Clothing to wear and laundry to keep them clean,
  • access to canteen purchases for other personal care items, and
  • medical care is available around the clock, mental health care is provided, and prescription medication is administered daily.

A physician is always present, and inmates can also attend classes and sessions to manage addiction and to learn new skills and talents. Inmates are permitted to both send and receive mail, can make phone calls to their friends and family via collect phone calls, and are permitted to have video visitations. Some inmates are encouraged to have jobs and to work while they are incarcerated, and they will have visits scheduled around their particular schedule through the kiosk at the facility or securustech.net. Other visits can also be scheduled at this website, at the jail itself, or remote visits can be started by the inmate themselves through the securustech.net program during their free hours. Due to the changing visiting hours, inmates will provide their hours to their visitors during a phone call. Any inmate who is on disciplinary confinement will only have visits on Fridays between 8pm and 10pm, with all inmates being able to receive official visits from lawyers and other professionals during the day, 8:30am to 10pm, with restrictions between 12pm and 2pm for lunch and 5pm and 8pm for supper.

Full capacity is reached at 720 inmates and is the main housing facility for all arrests that occur within Lexington County by any law enforcement agency.

What is the Cost of a Remote Video Visit?
Costs vary and are subject to change, but generally visits range from $5.00 to $15.00 for a 15 to 30 minute online or on-site video visit.

How do you know if your Inmate will be available during the time you schedule?
The Securus system knows the times that Lexington County Detention Center inmates are available for remote video visits.

Legal Mail is mail from Attorneys, law enforcement, the courts, bail companies, etc.

Newspapers
Local or national newspapers may also be mailed to the inmate as long as they are mailed directly from the newspaper publisher.

Magazines
News, special interest or sports magazines may also be mailed to an inmate as long as they are shipped directly from the publisher. Any magazines that contain profanity, weapons, pornography or other content that is adult in nature will be confiscated by the jail staff and will NOT be delivered to the inmate.

Books
The Lexington County Detention Center allows books to be mailed directly to the jail from a reputable source such as AmazonBarnes & Noble or Books-A-Million. You can order them directly from your computer and have them shipped to the inmate at the address above.
Books must NOT contain images or content that are considered excessively violent, pornographic or obscene. Any book that does not meet the Lexington County Detention Center standards will be disposed of. No more than three books may be shipped at any one time.
Hard cover books will not be accepted by the jail due to their potential to be used as a weapon.
