The 66 bed Barnwell County Detention Center is located at 330 Calhoun Street in Barnwell, and has post office boxes for incoming mail for inmates. This is the main detention center for the county and holds inmates both before and after their trial.

Phone calls are only permitted to be outgoing from the center and incoming calls for inmates are not accepted. Visits have been moved to a video system.
It is not permitted to bring alcohol, tobacco, cell phones, or purses into visits or to have alcohol or unsupervised children in video calls.
