About the Somerset County Jail

Standing tall in a blank concrete, the imposing appearance of the Somerset County Jail conveys the use of the building perfectly. Offenders, both misdemeanors and felonies, arrested in Somerset County, if not bailed out, will remain here until their trial. Inmates sentenced to less than one year will do their sentences at this jail.

It is located on Fairview Street in Somerset, PA and serves the county of Somerset County. The jail is a member of the PA SAVIN notification program to ensure that victims, police officers, and other concerned parties can be updated on the status of inmates. The facility itself can be contacted at 814-445-1500 to determine if someone you know is being detained there and what their bail is, or to alert the staff to medical or mental health concerns for one of the inmates.

During incarceration inmates will receive mental health care as well as medical care, and they receive three meals a day that are created to have a balanced and healthy diet. Supporting mental and emotional health, inmates may communicate with their friends and family outside of the jail via mail through the US Postal Service, as well as through outgoing phone calls and visits.

Phone accounts can be funded online and permit inmates to make outgoing calls that begin as early as after breakfast and end at lockdown for the night, but they are unable to accept incoming calls.
