About the Perry County Prison

The 125-bed Perry County Prison has been operational since the 1990s, and houses all direct arrests from Perry County. It offers a safe space for those who are incarcerated while providing opportunities to communicate with and see friends and family who are not being held. This communication is one of the ways that the mental and emotional health of inmates is cared for, as well as to improve their chance of success once they have been released.

As visitation systems changed during the year 2020, there are some updated policies in place regarding visiting an inmate. First, each visitor must be on an approved visitors list that is provided to the jail by the inmate, and this must not contain victims of the crime, other participants, witnesses, or others involved in the case, nor may visits be received by people incarcerated in other facilities or who have just recently been released.

Professionals who are working with the inmate on their case, including lawyers, or providing other necessary services, such as clergy, may visit any day between 9am and 10:45am, 12:30pm and 2:15pm, and 6pm until 9:15pm.

General visits by friends and family are permitted but must be selected by the inmates. Inmates may contact their visitors, provide them with a day and time that they will be allowed to visit, and then provide that information to the jail staff.

Visiting hours are not provided to the public and the jail will not receive calls to schedule them.

To receive phone calls from an inmate each person must be included on their phone call list, and the inmate must have funds available on their account. This can be funded by anyone outside of the prison at the kiosk in the lobby or through paytel.com, as well as the commissary account at Jailatm.com.

For additional contact, inmates can receive and send mail that is free of contraband, and all legal mail must be sent directly to the facility and marked as legal mail.

All other mail must be sent through the processing center and will be opened, checked for contraband, scanned and then delivered as a digital copy to the tablet of the inmate.

Physical mail copies will then be destroyed, including all images and photographs.

Inmate Money Accounts

How Do You Deposit Money for an Inmate in the Perry County Prison?

There are FOUR options for putting money on an inmate's books:

Option 1 - Dropping Money at the Jail
Bring money to the jail in person.
Either the jail personnel will process the Inmate Account payment or you will use a Jail ATM self-serve kiosk in the lobbies that accepts cash, debit or credit cards.

Option 2 - Deposit Inmate Money Online
Perry County Prison uses Jail ATM to process all online deposits to an inmate's account. The company charges you a small fee for doing so, but the fee probably isn't as much as gas and parking would cost to take it to the jail in person.

Option 3 - Mail the Inmate Deposit to the Jail
Mailing a deposit takes more time to process than the other methods but can be done if you live too far away to bring it in person and you don't have a debit/credit card for online deposits. Never send cash. Always send a Money Order from the US Post Office, a reputable bank or Western Union. Call the Perry County Prison first as they may want you to do this online or at the jail kiosk instead.
Make the Money Order out to the inmate's name and put their Inmate ID# in memo section of the Money Order.
