⇓ Learn more ⇓ Show lessAs the main operational facility in the area, Mifflin County Correctional Facility is also responsible for the detainees that are arrested in other areas that do not have their own facility, and this allows them to recoup some of the operating costs from the county who is responsible for the arrest. This can help to create a working relationship between neighboring communities as they pay a portion of the bills in order to have access to a specific number of cells or beds that can be used when they are needed.
The two story structure houses over 100 inmates and is a newer building, having been completed in the early 1990s. Inmates are booked at the facility with their mug shot, identifying information, contact information, charges being requested, and when they will face their arraignment. At this point they are permitted to call a lawyer or a family member to locate legal assistance, and their waiting period begins before they are permitted to have in person visits.
Both male and female inmates are housed in this facility, though they are separated at all times of day and night to maintain the safety of both inmates and the officers responsible for them. The Mifflin County Correctional Facility may reach full capacity before reaching 131 inmates due to the requirement of housing male and female inmates separately as well as maintaining separation between any inmates who are involved in a case together.
Inmates will have more success upon their release if they have a support system outside of the jail when they are released. In order to build and maintain these relationships, inmates may use the mail service to send and receive letters, cards, and even books or magazines if they are sent directly from the publisher or recognized bookstore.
Emails may be sent and accessed, mail can be sent to the jail for inspection before being passed to the inmate, and money can be added to their account for the commissary and phone accounts either in the lobby at the kiosk or online.
For visits one must first be included on the approved visitors list, not be incarcerated in any other facility at the time, not be freshly released from this facility, and not have any illegal ties or shared cases with the inmate they intend to visit.
Visiting hours are between 8:30am and 4:20pm on each weekday, with online visits being every day from 8:30am until 8:50pm.

Option 1 - Dropping Money at the Jail
Bring money to the jail in person.
Either the jail personnel will process the Inmate Account payment or you will use a Jail ATM self-serve kiosk in the lobbies that accepts cash, debit or credit cards.
Option 2 - Deposit Inmate Money Online
Mifflin County Correctional Facility uses Jail ATM to process all online deposits to an inmate's account. The company charges you a small fee for doing so, but the fee probably isn't as much as gas and parking would cost to take it to the jail in person.
Option 3 - Mail the Inmate Deposit to the Jail
Mailing a deposit takes more time to process than the other methods but can be done if you live too far away to bring it in person and you don't have a debit/credit card for online deposits. Never send cash. Always send a Money Order from the US Post Office, a reputable bank or Western Union. Call the Mifflin County Correctional Facility first as they may want you to do this online or at the jail kiosk instead.
Make the Money Order out to the inmate's name and put their Inmate ID# in memo section of the Money Order.
