There is a also a work release program that allows some to retain their employment and continue to go to work during the day, and community service is offered to others as a way to give back to their community while they are incarcerated. Both of these programs allow selected inmates to leave the facility during the day to complete these tasks and return in the evening to complete their sentence. The most recent facility, replacing one that was burnt in a fire in 1967, houses all inmates from their time of arrest until their release. To create a more successful release there are several programs available that any inmate can attend, and both medical and mental health care is provided.

Recently, there have been calls to construct some type of outdoor recreation yard for the inmates. Unless they are on 'work release' they never see the sky, and that's not very healthy.

Spiritual, behavioral, educational, and mental health classes are all provided, as well as other community programs and classes from the local college or university. In addition to these measures, phone calls and visits with friends and family outside of the jail have been shown to improve the mental health of inmates and help them to be more successful once they are released. Visits are permitted any day of the week between the hours of 12:45pm and 9:00pm, though they must be scheduled at least one day in advance. Each visit is one hour long, and one visit per week with one additional visit to be used any time of the month are permitted.

Mail can be received every day and is processed and passed to the inmates quickly, however the jail uses a digital service to avoid contraband entering the facility. Friends and family of inmates in the Centre County Correctional Facility can arrange to visit inmates by video, both at the jail and remotely from home. Friends and family can also communicate using an online text/email system, send them money and buy them commissary online, and set up a phone account that allows the inmates to call them during the day and evening seven days a week.

All the information on these inmate services can be found in the sections below.  If you still have questions, you can phone the jail 24 hours a day by calling 814-355-6794.

-  Free services are already available for use on the device at Centre County Correctional Facility.
