About the Bedford County Correctional Facility

Located on Imlertown Road in Bedford, PA, the Bedford County Jail is considered a full service jail that provides for all of the needs of the inmates while they are incarcerated there. This includes meals three times a day, opportunities to work in the jail, barbering services, religious services and meetings, counseling for individuals and group counselling for alcohol or drug abuse and other concerns, educational programs, and a commissary.

While mail is allowed to be sent to and from inmates, it is through the TextBehind program which allows electronic letters, greeting cards, and delivery of photos and drawings. It can be directly through the app or the website at TextBehind.com, or mailed to the TextBehind location where it will be scanned into the program and delivered electronically to the inmate.

All medical care and dental care will be provided regardless of ability to pay, and any hospital visits will be considered an extension of the incarceration and there will not be additional visits or other privileges extended during their stay.

Inmate accounts can be funded through the Access Corrections App, at accesscorrections.com or at the kiosk in the lobby, as well as by calling 866-345-1884.

Visits are permitted but must be scheduled in advance and all visitors must be on the inmates approved visitor list, which can contain 10 people and be changed once each month. The visitation hours are not publicized for the privacy and safety of the jail, but the visits can be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance by contacting the jail. Visits are 45 minutes long and can only have one adult and one minor per visit. Identification must be presented to be admitted.
