With advanced security systems, state of the art facilities and safety protections, the Umatilla County Jail strives to keep inmates safe, healthy, and mentally healthy as well. To complete this each member of staff must be certified and complete 40 hours each year of ongoing education and development.
Along with programs such as AA, NA, GED, and further training and education, the jail also provides access to phones and video visitation to maintain connections with loved ones who are not incarcerated.
With 252 beds, some beds may be used by other counties to supplement the budget for the facility and to use its space to the most benefit for the community.
Inmates are provided not only with access to make phone calls, but also with a tablet that includes email access, movies, music, and even book downloads. This can be set up through gettingout.com, and money may be added to commissary and phone accounts via the same websites.
Telmate provides phone services for the entire facility and their robust website offers options to book visits, add money, cancel visits, and there is also the ability to block the jail so that no inmate can call.
Funds may also be added at the kiosk found in the jail lobby, or via a phone call to the customer service representatives for Telmate.
Visits from friend and family are considered a key part of the mental health support for each inmate. Studies have shown that those who have outside contact are less likely to return to jail after their release, and they face a better chance of a successful reintegration in to society. Female inmates may receive visits from 10 am until 10:30, and from 3 pm to 4 pm. Male inmates may receive visitors 7:30-8, 8:30- 9:30, 1pm – 1:30 pm, and 2-2:30. Jail is closed for visitors on all major holidays, and the reception is open from 7:30-11:30 and again 12:30-4:30.

Collect calls allow you to accept and pay for calls to your land line (only) phone account. Prepaid calls (Direct Calls)
With Prepaid Calls you can set up your account so that the inmate can only call you and/or you can just deposit money in their account and they can purchase prepaid phone cards through their commissary and call whoever they choose, provided the Umatilla County Jail approves of the phone number.
