About the Crook County Jail

Located at 308 NE 2nd Street in Prineville, Oregon, the Crook County Jail is the local holding facility that operated under the control and supervision of the Crook County Sheriff.

The new facility was completed in August of 2019 and uses the most advanced communication and safety procedures and technology available at its completion. Inmates are encouraged to remain in contact with and communicate with their friends and family during incarceration to provide better results upon their release.

This facility is used mostly to house inmates before their trial and during their trial, who are sentenced to serve within the facility, but with most being sentenced to parole or probation. For those cases Community Corrections will provide the needed supervision.

Inmates can receive video visits every day during the provided visitation hours. Each visitor must be approved in advance by providing an application with a photo ID before they can schedule a visit. Only two visits of 15 minutes each are allowed every week, with video visits occuring from 6am until 9:45pm. Inmates only become eligible for visits a week after their incarceration begins.

Mail may be sent and reeived but must adhere to the mail rules of the jail and must not contain contraband or discussion of illegal activities including breaking out of jail.

Phone calls and visits can help inmates to better manage their time incarcerated and remind them of why they need to do better and develop new skills.

Inmate Money Accounts

How Do You Deposit Money for an Inmate in the Crook County Jail?

There are FOUR options for putting money on an inmate's books:

Option 1 - Dropping Money at the Jail
Bring money to the jail in person.
Either the jail personnel will process the Inmate Account payment or you will use a Jail ATM self-serve kiosk in the lobbies that accepts cash, debit or credit cards.

Option 2 - Deposit Inmate Money Online
Crook County Jail uses Jail ATM to process all online deposits to an inmate's account. The company charges you a small fee for doing so, but the fee probably isn't as much as gas and parking would cost to take it to the jail in person.

Option 3 - Mail the Inmate Deposit to the Jail
Mailing a deposit takes more time to process than the other methods but can be done if you live too far away to bring it in person and you don't have a debit/credit card for online deposits. Never send cash. Always send a Money Order from the US Post Office, a reputable bank or Western Union. Call the Crook County Jail first as they may want you to do this online or at the jail kiosk instead.
Make the Money Order out to the inmate's name and put their Inmate ID# in memo section of the Money Order.
