The building was finished in 2000 and has been created with the most up to date security and safety measures. There are 258 beds to house inmates, though there is an average of 180 each day. Generally, those who are charged with misdemeanors and serving short sentences, awaiting their bail to be paid or their trial to commence.
Operated as a small community within the community, it is approached as a self sufficient city of its own with a full maintenance staff, administrative staff, medical and health services, contracted food services, phone systems for both inside and outside the jail, a commissary, and working in conjunction with the local police departments and Marshall's offices.
All arrested individuals in the area are taken to this facility to be processed and held until their release. Programs are in place to teach inmates life skills in several aspects of life. General education is provided for a GED, parenting classes can be attended, as well as anger management and substance abuse programs. It is the intent of these programs that inmates be better prepared for success upon their release than when they arrived.
Cells are separated into pods, and inmates are assigned to cells and pods that fit their needs and keep those who are involved in the same case separate.
Visits are available, and each pod has visitation on a different day, which must be scheduled in advance and approved. To attend a visit onsite there are kiosks in the lobby that are prepared, however these are first come first served and may result in a long line and wait upon arrival. Visits can also be completed remotly online, where visitors are able to access the schedule of the inmate they wish to visit and book a time with them, which will then be related to them through the system in their cell block.
Phone calls can be funded online which will allow inamtes to make outgoing phone calls during their daily free time.
Inmate commissary accounts can also be funded online or via the lobby of the jail.
