Housing juveniles who are aged 12 to 18, both male and female, the Comanche County Juvenile Detention Center serves both Comanche County and the surrounding communities. It offers several programs to help provide a positive future for each of the residents, including year round schooling in the onsite classrooms, medical care from a physician on staff, behavioral health screening and therapy or programs to improve any concerns, healthy meals that follow the breakfast and lunch programs for local schools, recreation programming, a library program, and other support. The dayrooms each have access to computers during school hours to allow homework and assignments to be completed,and a wide range of reading material is provided in the library space. Games, videos, a video game system, and other activities are provided for both individual and group activities during free time. Haircuts are provided through agreements with barbers from the community, and outside organizations assist with other programs.
