Operated by the Community Works of Oklahoma, the Cleveland County Juvenile Regional Detention Center has space for up to 26 juveniles, both male and female. This organization is also responsible for the Pottawatomie County Regional Juvenile Detention Center located in Shawnee. Each ae under contract from the Office of Juvenile Affairs and follow strict regulations and mandates for the safety and security of the juveniles, visitors, and the staff. An emphasis on programming ensures that the youth in residence are learning new skills, following education requirements, and developing habits and routines that will assist them in the future. Teachers from local school districts provide educational supplies and lessons, as school is attended onsite daily, and students both in and out of class are rewarded for positive behavior and interactions. Juveniles are treated with integrity and respect, with efforts to keep a positive and safe environment where each feel supported in their personal growth, including physical education or exercise, adequate rest and quiet time, and the ability to remain in contact with their family.
