Central Ohio Youth Center Information

Located in Marysville, Ohio, the Central Ohio youth Center has 38 beds and serves 5 counties. Champaign, Delaware, Logan, Madison, and Union, all use this juvenile facility to house their youth offenders. The goals of the facility are to build the strengths of all the juveniles in attendance, to help create positive change in their lives, address each based upon their individual needs, and to offer treatments for any health, mental health, or substance abuse concerns. Built on the belief that trauma leads to many of the delinquency issues, they address any trauma that the youths may have experienced and focus on growing resiliency and encouraging them to take control of their own lives. Upon arrival, one phone call of five minutes is permitted, and going forward one call each week is permitted and more are earned, visits are encouraged, and assessments are done to ensure all medical, mental, emotional, and educational needs are being met. Mail: Both incoming and outgoing mail is permitted and delivered by US Postal Service. Phones: Phone calls are earned through the Responsible Behavior Program and good behavior is expected in order to have access to a phone call each week, no incoming calls are accepted. Visitation: Visits are encouraged but available for only parents and guardians, with each weekly visit being only 20 minutes. Visiting hours are Tuesdays 6pm-7pm and weekends from 9am to 10am on both Saturday and Sunday. Visits must be scheduled in advance.

Visitation is restricted to parents/legal guardians and is limited to 20 minutes unless otherwise approved by the Superintendent.  Visitation is on the following days and times:

The Central Ohio Youth Center allows inmates to receive pre-metered postcards like the type purchased from the post office. They may also allow certain photo postcards as long as they have not been tampered with or contain images that may be considered to be obscene or violent in nature. Magazines
News, special interest or sports magazines may also be mailed to an inmate as long as they are shipped directly from the publisher. Any magazines that contain profanity, weapons, pornography or other content that is adult in nature will be confiscated by the jail staff and will NOT be delivered to the inmate.

Books
The Central Ohio Youth Center allows books to be mailed directly to the jail from a reputable source such as AmazonBarnes & Noble or Books-A-Million. You can order them directly from your computer and have them shipped to the inmate at the address noted.
Books must NOT contain images or content that are considered excessively violent, pornographic or obscene. Any book that does not meet the Central Ohio Youth Center standards will be disposed of. 
Hard cover books will not be accepted by the jail due to their potential to be used as a weapon.
