Stark County Juvenile Attention Center Information

Stark County has created the Stark County Juvenile Attention Center to ensure that youth offenders are separated from adult offenders to maintain their safety and security and provide the best environment for their rehabilitation. Only young males are at this facility, average age is between 14 and 17. Agreements with other surrounding counties allow for any overflow to be housed in an alternative location, and when space is available at this facility while others are full, they have agreements to house youth offenders for them. To achieve the best results from the experience, a Responsible Behavior Program is in place that provides youth with points for positive social behavior, for showing responsible choices and actions, and following rules. These points can be used for longer phone calls, more free time, and other privileges. The local school board is responsible for the curriculum and students are taught within the facility in ways that work for them, often resulting in better grades than when they were in the schools and not detained. Life skills, art classes, and a library are all available and help students to improve their education and experience. A full time nurse runs the medical division, and meals are provided by Serve Safe Cooks. Visits may be had in person or via Zoom, as contact with parents are important for the success of the youth. Mail: Multi-County Juvenile Attention System 815 Faircrest Street SW Canton, OH 44706-4844 Phones: Phone calls are permitted and may be earned through the responsible behavior program. Visits: Visits are important to the success of each youth and are permitted both in person and over Zoom.
