Seneca County Youth Center Information

The Seneca County Youth Center is a safe and secure environment where young offenders who are awaiting a court trial or who are sentenced to serve time in detention are housed. There are several programs that are available during their stay to assist in personal and educational growth, to treat any drug or alcohol problems, and to help students to lead successful lives after they are released. School classes are provided and maintained by licensed teachers and match the local public school system, allowing students to re-enter the classroom without falling behind. There are 24 beds and both male and female detainees are held, though they remain separate for the duration of their stay. Each of the charges that are faced can result in as little as one day or as much as 90 days, and in the case of probation the time that they will serve is preset. Mail: Residents may send two letters to their immediate family each week, though envelopes and stamps must be provided to them. They can also receive letters, with no limit on how many, but it will be checked for contraband. Visitation: Visits are important for the youth, and they are permitted one visit each week, with the ability to earn additional visits through behavior. Each session is first come, first served and they occur Tuesday 6:00-6:30 pm, Saturday 1:30pm – 2:00pm and 6:00-6:30pm, Sunday 1:30pm – 2:00pm and 6:00-6:30pm
