Sandusky County Juvenile Detention Center Information

Sandusky County Juvenile Justice Center is the location for all youth related programs including the Juvenile Detention Division as well as the Court Programs Division. Built in 2003 the center has space for 36 juvenile offenders and was created to fit the needs of the county and its youth. Both male and female young offenders are housed here, both before and after their trial as needed, with limits on how long any youth may be detained. In addition to the detention division there is a programs division that addresses both cognitive and reality programs that will assist youth in improving social skills, learning life skills, and maintaining their education while they are detained. Each of these divisions work together seamlessly to improve the safety and the success of not only the students who are housed here but also the community surrounding them. Mail: Residents may send two letters each week to their parents or guardians. Incoming mail is checked for contraband and must have a full name and return address. Phones: Phones are available and residence can have up to two calls each week depending upon their behavior in the facility, and they may only call parents or guardians. Calls will occur on Wednesday and Saturday 7pm-8pm, additional calls earned by the Levels program occur Friday at 6pm. Visitation: Visits can also be earned, and there are up to 3 visits to earn each week, with each being a half hour long. Parents and guardians may visit, and on Wednesday there are grandparents' visits permitted. Visits are on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 9am and 9:30am as well as 6pm and 6:30pm, Wednesdays are grandparents' days during the same hours, and Saturdays the hours are from 12pm to 1:30pm.

Any magazines that contain profanity, weapons, pornography or other content that is adult in nature will be confiscated by the jail staff and will NOT be delivered to the inmate.

Books
The Sandusky County Juvenile Detention Center allows books to be mailed directly to the jail from a reputable source such as AmazonBarnes & Noble or Books-A-Million. You can order them directly from your computer and have them shipped to the inmate at the address noted.
