The Richland County Juvenile Justice Center houses the juvenile court system as well as the Richland County Juvenile Justice Center. This center is the main housing facility for all juvenile offenders who are arrested within the county and provides for their safety, security, health, and education for the entirety of their stay. With space for up to 25 youth, both male and female youth offenders are housed here, and they have access to both schooling and many other activities and programs. Schooling is provided year round to coincide with the local schools to allow for a transition back to the regular classroom after they are released, and this includes physical education, art classes, and social skills. Life skills are also taught so they are prepared to integrate into their community. All teachers are fully trained and certified, and additional meetings and support groups are available for those who wish to attend. Within this facility all staff use the least restrictive methods possible and before sentencing to detention there are other options considered and alternatives that may be used to prevent the detention of children whenever possible.   • Please arrive 15 minutes before visitation time, and check-in at visitation entrance intercom.  
  • Once visitation begins you will NOT be allowed entrance into the building.
  • Visitors are required to provide picture ID, and are subject to search; metal detector is used.
  • Only TWO visitors per youth.  No swapping out visitors halfway through visitation.
  • Visitation is limited to parents, step-parents, legal guardians, grandparents, or minister/pastor.  Siblings for Honor Visits only, by request.  
  • Special visitation arrangements may be considered by contacting the Center 419-774-2800.
  • For security reasons, there are to be NO items brought in for the youth.  Visitor’s personal items should be left in vehicle or secured in the lockers provided outside of the visitation room.
  • Please wear appropriate dress, and follow all instruction from Detention staff.
  • Visitation may be halted for disruptive, disrespectful, or otherwise unacceptable behavior.
