About the Kettering City Jail
Kettering City Jail is in Kettering, Ohio and is a temporary housing facility that is used only for short term detention. Those who are arrested in the city will be taken to the jail for processing, where they will have a photograph taken, fingerprints taken, contact information gathered, and medical questions asked to ensure the health and safety of each detainee. Due to the size and limitations of the jail it is used only to hold inmates for up to three days while they await their arraignment or for bail to be posted. Shortly after their detentian begins inmates who will be remaining incarcerated for a longer period of time will be transferred to the larger jails nearby that are better prepared for long term stays. Sentences are not served a this jail, and people only remain until they can be released on bail or transferred out. Visitors are allowed during detention at the facility during the assigned visiting hours of 9 am until 6 pm. The length of visits may be limited, however there is availablity to visit on all days other than holidays. Mail and commissary are not available due to the short length of time that people are detained in the facility, as there is no commissary and mail is unlikely to arrive before transfer to the next location.
