About the Miami County Incarceration Facility

Located in Troy, Ohio the Miami County Incarceration Facility is the main booking and holding facility for the county in which it resides. It serves not only the city itself but also the surrounding area. It opened in 1989 and has gone through updates to maintain safety and security, ensuring that new technology is added as needed. Updated security cameras and recording help protect both the inmates an the officers that are working in the building.

Video visitation has been added for no contact visits both onsite and off. This flexibility ensures that more of the inmates are able to have visits with their family and friends while they remain incarcerated. Visits are permitted only with an appointment and they are scheduled to occur any day of the week from 8 am until 8:30 pm. Four 60 person pods, but one has been shut down since 2009, therefore they could have 240 beds, but instead have just 180.

Inmates are allowed to send and receive mail during their stay, although they check for pictures that break the rules, drugs, and any information that may involve a potential escape plan. Care packages can be ordered through approved vendors and provide a bit of comfort to those who are incarcerated at the facility, and books can be sent directly from the publisher only. Basic needs are cared for by the staff, however extras for self-care such as toothpaste and clothing items can be purchased through the commissary via funds added by friends and family.

There's been a lot of talk about knocking down this jail and the downtown jail and building two new ones, but the county lacks the money and the will to that.

Visiting hours (video only) at the facility are every day from 8:00 AM to 9:00PM.  Video visitation from the visitor's home is also available.

Mail can be received every day and is processed and passed to the inmates quickly, however the jail also uses a digital service to avoid contraband entering the facility. Friends and family of inmates in the Miami County Incarceration Facility can arrange to visit inmates by video, both at the jail and remotely from home. They can also send them money and buy them commissary online, and set up a phone account that allows the inmates to call them during the day and evening seven days a week.

All the information on these inmate services can be found in the sections below.  If you still have questions, you can phone the jail 24 hours a day by calling 937-440-3490.
