The Gallia County Jail has a monthly turnover of 40% of their inmate population, another 30% turnover every 90 days, another 20% every six months, and approximately 10% stay incarcerated between six and twelve months. Every year Gallia County law enforcement agencies arrest and detain approximately 2,400 offenders.

Run by the Corrections Division of the Gallia County Sheriff’s Office, each officer receives 40 hours of advanced training on de-escalating situations and handling crisis in the facility. They also attend training on how to de-escalate when dealing with mental illness, and even mental health first aid. By ensuring that all staff are fully trained there is an increased safety for both the staff as well as the inmates, reducing injuries and fights.
To support and maintain outside relationships with family and friends it is encouraged that offenders have visitors. Updates were completed that allow visits to be done via video calls. For visitors who are able to attend the facility there are stations in place, and for those who are unable to attend in person they can access the system through a home computer, tablet, or even a smart phone as long as there is internet access and a camera.
Visiting hours are not provided to those who are not scheduling a visit, and are available only via the online booking system. Emails and regular mail are also accepted. Letters are scanned into the electronic system and delivered to inmates, while the originals are stored and provided upon release.

• You must check-in 15 minutes prior to the scheduled visit.
• Valid picture identification (e.g., driver's license, State I.D., or Military I.D. with picture) is required of all visitors, with the exception of children under the age of 17.
• Visitors under the age of 17 must be accompanied and supervised by an authorized adult visitor.
• Visitors who 'arrive' after the scheduled start time may not be allowed to visit.
• Clothing must cover all private/sensitive body areas.
• The visitation schedule may be canceled or altered on holidays or for safety/security reasons.
• Gallia County Jail can disconnect, deny, change, or cancel a visit at any time.
• Internet connectivity issues during offsite visits will NOT be refunded.
• Each visitation session will show a timer to display elapsed time.
