The Butler County Juvenile Court handles cases of youth offenders facing any legal charges or detention. They use both the Juvenile Detention Center as well as the Juvenile Rehabilitaion Center to assign youth as required for the best results. The goal is to assist in the rehabilitation of each youth offender and assist them in gaining the skills to manage their mental health as well as to make good choices in the future to avoid further interaction with the courts and detention centers. Butler County Juvenile Detention Center houses 66 beds for youth who are charged with delinquency or unruly charges and provides a safe and protected space for short term care. They are provided with space to sleep and exercise and access to daily programming. Education is provided by the local school distrcit, religious programs are offered, counselling and behavioral health services are provided. Each is focused on assisting those who are serving a sentence, awaiting trial, or waiting to be transferred to be better prepared for life when they leave than when they arrived. Special interventions are offered for those who need further assistance with school or diagnosis that will provide better support in school, as well as cognitive behavioral programs.
